Small Thoughts

Egyptian hieroglyphs is probably the most recognizable writing system of ancient history. It contains both phonetic, symbolic and figurative elements. There are over 2000 symbols used; but none represent vowels. In addition the sentences can be read left to right or right to left or top to bottom. No doubt this contributes to the numerous conflicting interpretations of inscriptions.
