What's Going On?

I can't say welcome back to you, because I'm the one who has been gone. I was gone for years focusing on my software UX/Design work for Lenovo. But in Jan this year, 2022 - holy cow 2022 - I retired from softwareland. I am now ready to indulge my less linear side. I know my engineering teammates are probably all rolling their eyes at since linear is probably not a word they would have associated with me. But, the design process is both linear and iterative, like the creation of art.

Art is where my head and heart are now. Always my head has been full of ideas for sculptures, pictures, collages, things I could make. Ideas sprang up like popcorn. Always I was thinking, "I want to make that!" Always the answer was "no time." Now I have time, space and tons of materials I've collected over the years to turn into things that I've always wanted to see. Now I need to build the skills I need to create the things I want to see.

I also want to share what I make. That means dividing into the deep end of social media. That's a post for another day.

So stay tuned. Now that I'm focused on my creative life, I plan to keeping this blog up to day.

For now, please enjoy some lovely pictures of Saltine and his sister, Strudel:

A photo of Salty observing me from the high shelf. His sister, Strudel is sleeping beside him, but she's got her back to the camera.
Here's Saltine, Salty, himself. Whenever I'm working on the computer, Salty and Strudel are supervising from the high shelf. That's Strudel laying beside him with her back to the camera.

A photo of Strudel looking very sweet as she peeks down from the high shelf
Here's Strudel-Noodle taking center stage.

Here's the pair.

More to come....

Miscellaneous

Pretty much anything can be an object for my painter's eye. Often I paint dreams or memories in addition to objects or scenes < Back to Additional Works >  Trees >  Landscapes >  Flowers >  Food > Animals Miscellaneous Olivetti Hula Popper & Others My sisters and I were giant fans of the TV show, The Carolina Sportsman (later The Southern Sportsman) sponsored by Arbogast lures. Fishing lures are pretty wonderful little objects, and really fun to paint.  Hula Wiggler & Others Arbogast Original & Others Swimmers

Trees

Trees are one of my favorite painting subjects, I try to capture them in all kinds of lighting situations. < Back to Additional Works >  Landscapes >  Flowers >  Food >  Miscellaneous >  Animals Winter Branches Sycamore Beech with Carolina Parakeets I'm a giant fan of our now-extinct native parrot, the Carolina Parakeet. Sadly the last died just about 100 years ago. If they had been able to hang on just a bit longer, we could have saved them. Pines Lichen on Branches Snowy Cedars
